Ankita Surpal – Director and Lead Physiotherapist for Children
Ankita brings over 15 years of experience in paediatric physiotherapy. With a special interest in children with neurological disabilities and sensory motor issues.
Her passion and dedication to improve the lives of children and families, through personalised and evidence-based therapies, sets her apart in the field.

Her journey hasn't always been smooth sailing. Ankita's journey began in the 1990s as a young girl struggling with academics and coordination, often labelled "naughty" for not completing tasks on time.
Faced with undiagnosed ADHD and Developmental Coordination Disorder, she persevered through these challenges, eventually earning a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy, driven by her parents' hope for her success.
Through her career as a Physiotherapist, Ankita not only helped others, but also managed her own struggles, earning a Double Master's degree and securing a PhD scholarship from University of Queensland in Paediatrics.
Her experience shapes her passion for empowering disabled children and their families, defining the purpose behind her leadership at the clinic today.

Ankita's extensive training extends to:

Serial Casting for children with neurological disabilities, aimed at improving muscle tone and mobility

"Traffic Jam in my Brain" for sensory-motor training, which addresses sensory processing issues and enhances motor skills

NSMDA Training (Neurological, Sensory, Motor, Developmental Assessment), A widely recognised assessment tool used in Paediatric NDIS reports. – (Ankita is currently facilitating this course at the University of Queensland for experienced physios)

Her extensive experience, knowledge and training ensure her clients receive the best possible care tailored to their unique needs. Ankita’s comprehensive NDIS reports, crucial for your funding and continued NDIS support.

With a PhD in progress from the University of Queensland, Ankita integrates the latest research and techniques into her practice. Her holistic approach ensures that therapy not only addresses the physical aspects, but also supports the emotional and social well-being of the child and their family.

In her spare time, Ankita kicks up her heels with the Hills Spirit Kellyville Football Club, scoring goals and making memories. She loves taking her adorable puppy on adventurous walks and diving into uplifting books about spirituality and positivity.

Komal Parikh – Physiotherapist for Adults
Komal has joined our team with extensive experience, and a passion for transforming lives through physiotherapy.
Training and Techniques
Komal completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2009 and her Masters of Physiotherapy in 2011. With over seven years of experience in Australia and international exposure, Komal brings a wealth of knowledge to our clinic.

Her key interest lies in treating NDIS funded patients with neurological conditions such as stroke and Parkinson's disease, along with a dedicated focus on the geriatric population. Komal's treatment approach is holistic, combining education, exercise prescription, and personalised care, both in land-based settings and through hydrotherapy.

Passion to Make a Difference to Adults’ Lives
Komal is committed to providing compassionate and effective care to those suffering from debilitating illnesses, helping them regain independence and improve their quality of life.
In her spare time, Komal twirls to her favourite beats, savours every bite of Chinese food, globe-trots like a pro, and occasionally binge-watches movies like there’s no tomorrow! She’s also trained in Indian classical dance, adding a touch of tradition to her vibrant life.

Erika Monterona – Support Worker
Erika Monterona, brings over 6 years of experience in the disability sector, providing in home and community support to Hygiea families. Her passion for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for individuals of all ages is evident in everything she does.
Training and Techniques
With qualifications in Certificate IV in Ageing Support, and a Diploma in community services, Erika’s warm and compassionate nature, combined with her professional qualifications, makes her a standout support worker.
Supporting NDIS participants with complex needs
As an experienced NDIS support worker for individuals with complex needs, Erika plays a crucial role in helping people living with a disability, implement care plans, attend appointments and social outings, to reach their individual goals. Erika knows the gentle balance of when to step up and assist, and when to step back to encourage and promote independence.

A Passion for Making a Difference
Erika’s dedication to her role is driven by her genuine desire to make a positive impact in the lives of those she supports. She works closely with families to provide support catered to the child's unique needs, promoting growth and development in a fun and engaging way.
Erika loves to lose herself in the rhythm of a dance, bringing her joy to every step. She also enjoys singing and delights in cinematic adventures, filling her life with joy and excitement. Her passion for these hobbies brings warmth and fun to every moment.

Caryl Cabote – Allied Health Assistant
Caryl is currently studying a Bachelor of Speech and Hearing Sciences at Macquarie University and is on her journey to becoming a speech pathologist. With her strong academic foundation and real-world experience, she brings both enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to supporting children and families at Hygiea.
Experienced in Education and Child Support
Before joining us, Caryl gained extensive experience working in after-school care as an educator in NSW schools. This role has given her a deep understanding of the education system and invaluable skills in behaviour management and supporting children’s learning needs. Her ability to connect with children and create supportive environments shines through in everything she does.
Giving Back to the Community
Caryl is passionate about giving back. She has volunteered in major community events including the City2Surf, Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon, Bicycle NSW Events, and the HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon. Her volunteer spirit reflects her dedication to teamwork, resilience, and service to others.

Life Beyond Work
Outside of her studies and work at Hygiea, Caryl leads a vibrant and creative life. She’s a youth leader and enjoys a range of hobbies that showcase her artistic side, including singing, playing piano, guitar, and ukulele, cross-stitching, baking, and photography.
